Affirmation: “I can do anything I set my mind to.”
Journal Prompt:
What messages is my body trying to send me?
Self-Care Ritual:
Today’s affirmation speaks about the power of our mind. And our journal prompt is about the messages our body sends us. So how does the power of our mind, and messages of our body, come together?
Mindfulness
So what is mindfulness?
The dictionary defines it as a mental state, achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.
Though definitions and techniques of mindfulness are wide-ranging, Buddhist tradition explains mindfulness as a skill one develops through meditation or other training, focusing one’s attention on breathing, bodily sensations, and mental relaxation.
Simply put, it’s a mind/body process that leads to a state of self-awareness. And while it’s a seemingly basic practice, it can:
1. Reduces Your Stress Levels – Many studies prove, practicing mindfulness daily can alleviate stress in no time. It will greatly enhance your mood, making you less worried.
2. Strengthens Your Attention and Focus – meditation helps you to quiet your mind, concentrate on your present moment, so you’ll be able to perform better.
3. Improves Your Immune System – It helps in the production of “antibodies” which destroy viruses and other harmful substances that can cause chronic illnesses.
Mindfulness isn’t just amazing for your mental health but is miraculous for your physical health as well. So, your self-care ritual for today, is to take a time out, and mediate, with the aim of becoming more mindful.
And I’ve attached a link to a short, simple meditation, to get you started. If you’re interested in more, send me a PM, and I’ll gladly share some others.
